Back to the Kansas trip. After leaving Wichita, we arrived in Alamosa, CO, two very tired people, only to find that most motels were filled. The firefighters were in a lot of them. Not knowing where we would be by evening, we hadn’t made any reservations. We were directed to the Inn of the Rio Grande. Thrilled to actually find a room available we were doubly delighted to see that it was quite a nice room. And there was a restaurant in the hotel – something we always prefer but that is getting harder to find.
Knowing we had a very long day ahead of us, we were up before the chickens, and headed down the road. Road construction was everywhere. Actually, we’d had more than our share of that the whole trip! Taking a quick trip around the town where several of Bob’s relatives used to live, we found a lovely lake with the sun just coming up over it. I enjoyed taking pictures there.
Eventually, the gorgeous Wyoming skies welcomed us home!
