021Snake River & the Tetons – one of the most beautiful and highly photographed areas of the Jackson Hole and Yellowstone National Park areas. (As you can probably tell I felt stupid posing in front of my trusty tripod & timer with a bazillion people around.) You can enjoy everything from Continue reading →

In the mid-1840’s emigrants started traveling across this continent. My husband and I have followed a lot of the Oregon Trail, but this past weekend we covered the stretch from east of Hwy 89 near what is known as Star Valley in Wyoming. The cut across led us to Continue reading →

052 copyWe were treated to a dozen or so hummingbirds at our feeders last night – but they wouldn’t all pose for me at the same time! Nothing like in ’07 when we had around fifty and were refilling feeders three times a day. The deck buzzed with their activity. Such fun to watch. Mischievous little things. 🙂

006Poof! Just like that the tree swallows babies are gone. We now have an empty nest. 😦 I wish we could have seen them learning to fly – but we don’t know what we’re doing. Maybe next time.

Baby tree swallow #1. It appears that he has two siblings. They aren’t ready to meet the world yet but it shouldn’t be too much longer. The parents are definitely kept busy bringing home the insects! Yuk! It takes thousands of prey per day to feed the babies. (Aren’t we glad our little ones just need milk!) They also are still working hard to keep them warm. The temperatures here have been cooler than usual so it increases their workload. Never a minute’s rest for parents of new babies. 🙂

I found this quote today and it seems appropriate.
