We recently took a road trip to Cody, Wyoming to celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary. Heading down HWY 189/191 east from Hoback Junction toward Pinedale we came across this delightful little cafe in Bondurant. It is so cute, tastefully decorated inside, and thoughtfully arranged. The food is good and the staff is friendly. If you are traveling that way you won’t regret stopping in.

We tangled with a deer recently so my car has been in the shop while the fall colors were at their best. I did find a few at a golf course. Wyoming transitions fast (except for winter…), and this year it seemed like a switch was flipped: one day it was still summer – the

inWe went for a drive today but the colors weren’t quite as far along as we thought they would be. That’s okay. It gives us an excuse to go again next Sunday. It is so beautiful here,
and when you add the fall colors to the green and throw in a little snow it can be spectacular!

While our children were growing up we often went backpacking in the Wind River Mountains near Riverton, Wyoming. It was something we all enjoyed doing. Bob continued the tradition with our grandson.
I recall a trip they took in 1997. Shelby was 15. It was during our vegetarian phase which I hadn’t completely bought into and Shelby certainly hadn’t. When they left I fixed myself a pot of ham and beans – something I felt was much tastier with meat than without.
They hiked back about eight miles Continue reading

Buffalo Bill Cody, one of America’s biggest celebrities, was on a hunting expedition about 50 miles west of Cody, Wyoming (a town named after him) and a couple of miles from the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park, when he found an area he loved. He determined that a hunting lodge needed to be built there and he marked the spot with an ax. Construction began shortly after that and in 1905 the doors to the Pahaska Tepee opened to tourists.
The lodge was surrounded by porches on the north, south, and east. Bill’s suite was over the east porch. There were six more bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second floor, with seven additional rooms on the first level. A kitchen and dining area was added in 1920. It is now open for tours and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and List of Registered Historic Places in Wyoming.

We recently took a road trip through Yellowstone National Park, by Yellowstone Lake, and on through to Cody. It’s such a beautiful place! The raven let me know it was her territory, not mine. The elk was along side the highway. As always, photographers were everywhere creating traffic issues (me included). 🙂 That’s one reason it’s 45 mph going through the park. It’s worth the extra time.
